Learning Teaching From New Resources

When teaching, it is important to constantly strive to improve in terms of gerneral knowledge of the subject you are teachin as well as teaching techniques.  For this reason, reading articles about either subject can be extremely beneficial to success in the teaching industry.  Using the artical on visualization, I realized exactly how important and helpful it can be to have students visualize a problem area when not in the airplane.  I used to think chair flying was silly at best, but reading the article I have learned that the body, when visualization is used correctly, cannot tell that it is vividly imagining the experience rather than experiencing it in reality.  Because of this, I will stress to students how helpful chair flying can be, as well as the correct ways in which to chair fly.
Reading the article on mastering the touchdown, I realized how beneficial practicing soft field landings by playing a game with the student to try to keep the airplane off the ground as long as possible.  I feel like this could be fun for both of us, as well as very useful for the student to get a feel for the airplane in ground effect.
When reading the article on training future captains, I realize how important it is to establish confidence in students, regardless of background experience.
