Oh no my student can't land!!!
Come lesson eight if my student can't land I'll try taking several different approaches to teach him or her. Sometimes things have to be explained a certain way and they will just click. If after a lesson or two of trying several different approaches with no success, I'll send them with another instructor, because that instructor will also have different ways of explaining things. If that doesn't work, it may be about time to let the supervisor know the student is having some trouble. With a million more hours of experience, maybe he or she will have special techniques to deal with the particular problem my student is having. Hopefully sometime during this process it will just click for the student. However, if practice hours go well beyond those of other students who have struggled, it may come time to discuss their options with this particular student. The amount of hours could vary with the student. A student who is not getting it and doesn't seem to care may get the discussion earlier than a student that has been dreaming of being a pilot their entire life.
